Workplace Values and Leadership Development
In this episode of the People and Performance Podcast, we welcome Brian Hughes, the former VP of Human Resources at First Onsite onto the show to discuss leadership development and share some findings from a summer 2023 Canada-wide workplace values survey.
Questions for Brian include:
- How can medium and large organizations foster a culture of continuous learning among HR leaders and C-level executives to adapt to the dynamic business landscape?
- How can HR leaders and C-level executives better collaborate to embrace emerging HR technologies and use data-driven insights to enhance talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning?
- How can HR leaders ensure that the learning and development initiatives for C-level executives are aligned with the organization's overall business goals and long-term vision, and how can people analytics assist in measuring this alignment?
- Let's now discuss some findings from First Onsite's workplace values survey released in summer 2023:
- The report says 75% of Canadians believe hybrid working is here to stay. For white-collar salaried jobs, what's a good balance? (in-office, remote, and on-the-go workers).
- It's interesting to see that 41% of Canadians feel they lack options for purposeful employment. What initiatives or programs should leadership have in place to provide meaningful and purposeful roles for employees?
- The survey indicates that 23% of Canadians plan to quit or change jobs in 2023, with a higher percentage among younger adults. How can HR leaders play a bigger role in retaining their talent, especially the younger workforce, in light of this finding?
This episde was recorded in summer 2023.
